Prince Karl is in love. But that's not cause for celebration in tiny Karlsburg. The future king's inamorata is not the princess he's supposed to wed in a state-arranged marriage. Instead, Karl has fallen for a Heidelberg barmaid! With the hoisting aloft of many a beer stein and much youthful camaraderie, The Student Prince provides regal musical entertainment.
Edmund Purdom and Ann Blyth portray the star-crossed lovers, while John Ericson and Louis Calhern add colourful support.
With great songs like "Golden Days", "Serenade", "Deep in My Heart", and "Drink Drink Drink", and with the golden voice of Mario Lanza, who provides the prince's singing voice (Lanza was originally slated for the lead role), you are in for a delightful aural and visual experience.
Three cheers all around!
